Why I became a Career Coach

Throughout my career, I have had many opportunities to talk with people about their careers. I am always fascinated to hear about why people make career choices, and what they learned from the experience. I started to notice some commonalities in why people make career decisions. Many people chose a path they felt they could be successful with from their past, but not necessarily a path they wanted to take. In many cases, they were missing the encouragement to try something that interested them, and the resources to know how to achieve that goal.

As an educator for many years, I have had the opportunity to provide career coaching for students of all ages, and many friends too. I have found that no matter where people are in their career, when there is a desire to make a change, everyone needs encouragement. I have had many students tell me that they received a job thanks to me. My reply is always the same, "I was not in that job interview with you." And usually the rebuttal is that because of conversations with me, which included specific activities and a bunch of encouragement, they were well equipped for the interview and felt they had the tools needed to impress the interviewer and land the position.

Since I enjoy watching people be successful achieving career goals, I decided to start professionally coaching people as they are working through the web of self-exploration to discover the path they would like to call a career, or finding the next step in a career.

Job hunting is extremely challenging, and I want to be there to help you get started, and help you learn what you are searching for. In the end, I hope to help you get through the exhausting work of job hunting so that it will pay off with not only a great job, but a job you are passionate about.
