Resources

As you are starting your career research journey, it is helpful to have a resource that help you develop a plan. CareerProfiles Career Research Checklist does an excellent job providing a comprehensive list of activities that need to be put in a plan.
Be sure to get a notebook that is solely dedicated to your career research so you can create a plan and keep track of your progress, notes about yourself or specific careers, and ideas you may have along the way. This can be an electronic notebook, but it is best to have a hard bound place to jot information so you can see your progress.

The Holland Code Career Test uses the Holland Code to help you evaluate which jobs you are most interested in, how your talents will be used best and match your aptitude. It is best to take the quiz before you read the details about the science behind it. You will have an opportunity to download your results as a PDF once your score is calculated.

The Interest Assessment asks 30 questions about what activities you would like. The results show which careers you matched best with, the name of the occupation, the general outlook for that career, sample hourly wages, and the education level typically needed. Your scores may not give you the exact career you are interested in, but it will give you a set of words and an area to use as a starting point when you are searching for a new job.
My suggestion is to read about the Interest Assessment first, then take the assessment. You will need to click on the Email or Print button at the top of your results to save a copy to refer to later.
